Affiliate Marketing Through Commission Junction

Affiliate marketing is a popular way to earn money online. Though the industry is very competitive, the returns make it worthwhile.

If you own a blog or a website that generates lots of traffic, joining an online advertising company becoming an affiliate is a great way to make some money from home. Which company should I join?

There are many advertising companies that allow you to advertise on your own website. The most trusted and efficient company is ClickBank. It is easy to use and you can earn great income.

What is Commission Junction?

Commission Junction is one such online advertising company that caters to the affiliate marketing industry. You can join Commission Junction as a new or experienced affiliate marketer and earn money by advertising products and getting commissions for it in return. Commission Junction offers their merchants the best affiliates to promote their products, which in return, will lead to more customers and more sales. Commission Junction sends out weekly newsletters where you, as an affiliate, can stay updated with information on new product launches. And as an affiliate, you also have a huge directory of thousands of products from which you can choose which product to promote. Each product can vary in different percentages of how much you earn from each sale.

Example: For instant, if an item is selling for $30 USD and the commission is 75%, your revenue for each item sold is $22.5. That said, only $7.5 goes to the item revenue, as for you. You are in an advantage. * Note: commission can vary in many different percentages.

Once you sign up, you get a special link you can use on your website or blog to promote the product. If readers find the product interesting they can click the link to buy the product. If they buy the product, you get a commission on the sale. Apart from sales, you can get commissions by getting readers to fill up a form and generating leads.

Many of us believe that affiliate marketing is a scam. That is a false statement. Virtually every prominent site on the internet makes income. How? Simply by advertising and using great methods of marketing. Just by building a simple website can make you money. Getting website traffic is a different story. So, if you put in the effort, affiliate marketing can be an extremely profitable endeavor as well as Commission Junction can be one of the best advertising companies to join and it offers the best features and opportunities for merchants and affiliates.

Affiliate Programs for Websites

It can be a lot of work advertising for one’s own website. The good news is that webmasters do not have to do all of the work themselves. They can enlist the help of several people by offering affiliate programs for websites.

This is an especially good option for people who have several websites and many different products for which they are advertising. An affiliate program is one in which other people, known as affiliates, do much of the advertising for a website. For example, a website may be selling a book about how to have an inexpensive wedding. The book’s writer creates an affiliate program in which she offers a commission of, for example, 50% of the proceeds from the people who buy the book.

A popular way in which affiliates send traffic to a website is through pay-per-click advertising. A service that people provide for their affiliate programs for websites is to teach them how to perform this type of advertising. Affiliates can also sign up for the newsletters that teach them new methods of advertising. Some people even have seminars that give their affiliates new ideas on how to create more traffic.

An affiliate program for websites also may create advertising materials for their affiliates use to drive traffic to the website. Banners are a popular form of advertising that affiliate programs for websites give to their people to place all over the internet. These banners can go on the affiliates’ own websites if they have them. They also can be placed on websites which charge a fee for putting a banner on their sites for a certain amount of time.

People create affiliate programs for websites with an agreement. It is something that the program’s creator needs to draw up with an attorney to make sure that everything is legal. This is where the program’s creator expresses to anyone who is thinking of becoming an affiliate how much he or she will be paid for each person who buys the product. Potential affiliates also learn what the rules are in this section. Once the agreement has been accepted the program’s creator takes some time to check on the potential affiliate’s reputation in order to decide whether to take this person on as an affiliate. After the affiliate has been accepted he or she can get to work.

Creating the affiliate program takes a little time in the beginning; it also will require a little money to pay an attorney. But it is a worthwhile endeavor if one does not have the time to invest in advertising for several different websites.

Google Launches Media Ads for AdWords

If you’re a major film studio looking to promote your new releases, Google just gave you a new option. With Media Ads for AdWords, you can capture a searcher’s attention like never before. But how well will this expand to other industries?

First, let me give you a quick explanation of how it works. Google determined that most searchers who look for the title of a movie want to see a trailer, so it now features AdWords text-based ads at the top of its results that include a thumbnail video player on the left. When clicked, the video expands and dims out everything else on the computer screen, thanks to the search engine’s new Lightbox video player.

If you’re interested in buying one of these ads and concerned about bidding, don’t worry: unlike other AdWords ads, you get these for a flat rate per click. Google eliminated the auction by targeting these ads automatically, using its algorithm. Google AdWords product marketing manager Dan Friedman explained that “When someone enters a search on Google.com that our algorithms determine is directly related to your movie title (most commonly the title and variations on it), we automatically display your Media Ad at the top of the search results page.”

The flat rate per click should be a big help to those trying to plan their advertising campaigns. Users should find it easier to estimate how much they’ll be spending, since the cost per click won’t change. While that’s great news for those who can use the new Media Ads, where does that leave the rest of us – you know, the vast majority of online advertisers and retailers who AREN’T currently trying to promote a movie?

Google says that they do plan to roll this ad option out to other industries in the future, but you can expect them to do so slowly – and it’s entirely possible that Media Ads will never be available for some sectors. It’s easy to imagine this kind of ad being used by the television industry, of course. The travel and tourism industry could also make use of it when searchers hunt for particular hotels or vacation spots.

The rest of us will probably need to be a bit more creative. Do you offer classes or webinars online? Media Ads might work for you in the future. How about the automotive industry? TV commercials for cars already work on selling the experience, so this would just be an extension of that. Does your site focus on how-to videos? A short Media Ad might work here as well – something that’s just long enough to get a viewer excited about learning that new skill or making that cool gadget.

If you put together any video content online, you might want to think about making trailers for it in the future. This may seem a little silly, especially since there’s no telling when – or if – Google will expand Media Ads into your industry. If and when they do, though, you’ll look back on it as a useful exercise. At the very least, if you haven’t been optimizing the title tags of your videos for SEO, start doing it now; that will put you in a better position to take advantage of Media Ads in the future.

5 Top Tips on Search Engine Optimization

What is SEO?

For those who are just starting to learn how to do internet marketing, SEO is one of the most important topics to cover. SEO, or search engine optimization, is all about getting your website to the top of the search engine results. Different SEO techniques will increase the visibility of your website to search engines, usually by increasing the amount of internet traffic that it receives.

Most SEO tips and methods are focused on Google. That’s because Google continues to be the leading internet firm in the world. A large fraction of web users rely on Google as a search engine and also for many of its other services. It also offers a lot of applications that can help in finding a reputable spot for your website in search engine results and listings.

Before taking on a myriad of SEO tools that are available online, it would be best to know the SEO basics. A good grasp of the SEO basics will help you climb your way to the top despite constantly changing rules and search engine functionality. Start by learning how search engines operate then create a checklist of the things that you can do to boost your ranking. Your checklist should include the top keywords that can lead to your website, getting lots of links and creating quality content.

Here are Tips on Getting Started with SEO

If you’re getting started on how to do internet marketing, you’ve probably run into the term ‘search engine optimization’ or its common abbreviation ‘SEO’. SEO is the practice of optimizing your website so that it ranks well in search engine results like Google. The target is usually to get into the first page since many studies show that most internet users don’t go beyond the first page of results.

As an internet marketer, SEO is definitely something you should be interested in. Here are five SEO tips that should help you get started.

Know what keyword phrase to optimize your site with.

The first step to SEO is finding out what keywords you are optimizing your website for. For example, if you are marketing your dentistry practice in San Francisco, the likely keyword phrase that your potential customers use for searching your service is ‘dentist san francisco’.

Don’t fret, knowing the right keywords don’t need to be guess work. Google Adwords Keyword Tool can give you a list of the most searched keywords that are related to your niche.

Article distribution.

The easiest way to do article distribution is by setting up a blog. All you have to do is write articles that are related to the company or product you are marketing and post them while including a link back to your website.

You can also submit these articles to websites like ezine.com, but be sure that they have your website links.

Get into social media.

Search engines love social media. Having a page on Facebook or an account in Twitter is a great way to boost your ranking. Just remember to place a link back to your website.

Submit your website to Google.

Google allows for free submission of URLs if you want to be added to its directory. While it doesn’t guarantee a listing, it certainly doesn’t hurt to try.

Submit your home page URL to the Google directory and the Googlebot will explore (or crawl) the rest of your links.

Best Affiliate Marketing Training

Have you been looking for the best affiliate marketing training that you can find? If you have been you have probably been overwhelmed by the information you have found. There will have been information about all sorts of tutorials, eBooks and programs to teach you about affiliate marketing. Some of it will have had terms and phrases that you haven’t even heard of, which is the point of getting the training in the first place.

There is a lot of good information out there but the trouble is new affiliates obviously don’t know where to turn and they usually go to the wrong place. They then end up with no useful information or products but believe they are on the correct path. The consequences of this can be devastating, even to the point of the affiliate giving up as they cannot make it all work.

So, to find the best affiliate marketing training, what should you look for? Websites, eBooks and tutorials are readily available online and they will all promise to make you rich. They may be part of the solution but by the time you have bought them all you will be out of pocket by more than you can probably afford. Most of them probably won’t help much either. You need an all in one package to cover all the options. And, they do exist.

A word of warning here too. A lot of so-called teaching resources have another purpose also. They lead to the need to buy another product to move to the next step or another tool to make things easier for you. You need to be wary of these and run when the pop-ups appear or the ‘Wait, there’s more’ messages start.

The best affiliate marketing training programs teach the complete workings of the internet marketing world. This will include such things as types of affiliate marketing, keyword research, website building and hosting (including using free tools or sites), Search Engine Optimisation, relevancy of content and much more.

They should also provide a range of different types of resources. This would include tutorials, video and audio files, a forum and coaching. Also there should be some tools to help the affiliate, such as keyword research, article writing, website building, web hosting and the like.

All these resources are necessary to learn and develop the skills to be successful at affiliate marketing but there are some that are more important than others. Let’s briefly look at some of these.

  • The training should be structured, particularly at the beginning. There is so much to learn that a pathway needs to be followed so that time and effort is not wasted.
  • There should be readily available support. Questions will need to be asked and it must be easy to do so. Also, one on one support is an excellent bonus if it is available. Great support will make the learning process much easier.
  • There should be a range of training and resources available no matter what level people are at. You will not always be a beginner but you also do not want to be held back by a lack of relevant resources. The resources must also be current and evolve with the changes in the Internet world.
  • There must be a forum. The best affiliate marketing training available cannot exist without a forum to participate in. This is the go-to area that will solve a lot of issues. A lot of time will be spent in a forum so it needs to be well set up and well used.

You will need to remember that there is no quick and easy way to succeed but when you get the right information and you can get it all in one place, things will be much easier and the learning process will become more straight forward.

Beat Charlie Sheen at SEO

You don’t need to have tiger blood to reach the top of the search engine results pages – though apparently it helps. Just ask Charlie Sheen. More seriously, we can learn a few lessons from the rise and fall of this actor about attracting more traffic to our websites.

I won’t go into too many details about Charlie Sheen’s dramatic downward spiral due to drugs and alcohol. Even before his hit comedy series “Two and a Half Men” got canceled for the rest of the current season, stories of his extreme lifestyle hit the press regularly. His outrageous statements landed on T-shirts and inspired at least one website (WinningAtEverything.com).

Clearly, we’re attracted to those who do things in a big way. Google “Charlie Sheen” without quotes and you’ll get 227 million hits. Interestingly, a similar search for “Charlie Sheen and SEO” yields seven million hits. As SEOs, we’re not impervious to the attraction of Adonis DNA; we’d just like to figure out how to get some of it for ourselves – preferably, without doing anything illegal.

I found a phrase over at SEO Assistant that explains the Charlie Sheen phenomena: “crazy brings the eyeballs.” There’s a big attraction to the weird and the tragic; we want to see it, and it’s hard to look away. How do you harness that for your website? One way is to write controversial content. Consider the things that everyone in your industry takes for granted, and start questioning them. There may be good reasons for doing things a particular way – or they may just be traditions that have long outlived their usefulness.

Let me give you an example that’s a little more down-to-earth than a rock star from Mars. I happened to thumb through a new book on square foot gardening, a technique that lets you grow a lot of food in a small amount of space. It noted that one of the traditional sayings about gardening is to grow “one for the blackbird, one for the mouse, one for the rabbit, and one for the house.” That implies that traditional methods would have you grow four times as much food as you actually need. That’s wasteful – and that’s also where square foot gardening came in to question the traditional wisdom, and provide a solution.

So you can be like Charlie Sheen by having a strong, controversial opinion about something – but you’d better back it up. Be prepared to defend your opinion with some well-reasoned arguments. That’s the way to get people talking about what you have to say, and linking back to your posts.

Winning at Everything

Okay, so you’ve attracted some visitors with a bit of controversy. How do you make them stick around? Well, you’re going to have to remember that SEO is for the long haul. Consider this: right now there are a lot of hits on Charlie Sheen, because he is hot news. But most of my friends have gotten tired of hearing about him, and I’ll bet that’s true of everyone you know, too. Why is that?

The man who claims he’s “winning at everything” is losing our attention because he doesn’t really have anything interesting to offer. For those who take him seriously, he’s become too painful to watch. Those who don’t take him seriously probably lost interest a long time ago. To put it callously, all style and no substance won’t hold a visitor’s attention for long – even if they’re staring at one of Charlie Sheen’s “goddesses.”

That’s why I said you’ll need to back up your controversial point of view with real, well-reasoned arguments. People dismiss Charlie Sheen now because he’s crazy. If you’re going to attract visitors by saying something that sounds crazy, you’ll need to show them that what you’re saying isn’t REALLY crazy when considered from a particular perspective. You don’t have to win at everything. You don’t even have to completely win them over. You just have to start the discussion, and give it enough substance for your visitors to want to continue it.

Affiliate and Online Marketing

In my quest for an easy, as painless as possible ‘affiliate marketing for ordinaries’ program, I have actually learned a lot about the basics and how to get started. I realize it will take some time, but mostly initially, and continuing my perseverance will be of benefit to me in the long run. There are a few relatively good online marketing programs that one can purchase and download immediately. There are a huge number of not-so-good programs! An all-American, honest, good person like myself just wants some help cheap, and not be scammed or lured into nonsense blurb and programs that are full of bologna!

Most of us are looking for ways to make extra money easy from home using this amazing tool called a computer, and do not want to learn all the high-tech tricks out there that the gurus know. Affiliate and online market gurus are making huge amounts of money, so I figure, where money is being made, there’s some money for me there too! It won’t be easy however. l’m not looking to put huge amounts of my valuable time into setting up mass domains, SSR, URL’s, social networking, referring constantly to Facebook, Twitter, or using links with kinks, blah, blah, blah!! As you can see I am not interested in learning all the hidden, time-consuming techniques the gurus have used! Just help us make it technologically easier!!!

Some things I have found helpful is to do a few things:

1. Search online for affiliate marketing methods and internet home-based business. There are many good sites that will give you ideas and tips of what works for some people.
2. Look up reviews online for top affiliate marketing sellers and top home-based business, and decide what looks interesting to you
3. Purchase a few low-cost automatic downloads that help you set-up affiliate marketing and/or your own website to sell your own products or be an affiliate marketer.
4. Check out Clickbank and other similar sites so that you can research which products you might want to sell.
5. Plan on spending several hours implementing this (maybe a total of 16 hours?), and go for it!!
6. Make sure you choose a niche you find interesting or a product you would like to sell or market!

Reviews are very helpful in my journey. Reviews of work-at-home products and other online businesses are very necessary in order to learn more about the pros and cons of a product before purchasing. Being very popular, these affiliate or online marketing reviews are popping up all over. If you are a ‘make a few extra dollars a month while still having a life’ junkie like me, you will realize why it’s essential to research the product that promises to help you make money at home. Also, top new products reviews are always changing so keeping up with the new and true is good. There are many programs that are reasonable in price, and minimally, one can learn more about how it’s done. I’m always interested in learning, but only when it’s cheap and easy too!!

A home-based business is enticing to many, many of us. I love the intrinsics of my real job, however the extrinsics are becoming more and more, and are not painless which causes stress and decreases one’s love for the job. I think sometimes how great it would be to have a home business that helps others as well as making money to live a good life! Coffee, pajamas until noon, accessible bathroom, no gas costs for the vehicle–that’s the daydream I have often.

Thank you so much for reading my article. I know I am in the same boat with many of you! We all want a better life. I don’t think stress-free is possible nor productive, but less stress at the job is a dream! What’s not to love about a successful home based business! Persevere towards your goals!! Good luck on your learning and earning path.
