Therefore, to succeed in the long run, you have to target a profitable niche. Because a niche has many needs, and wants, and they can be satisfied by many kinds of products that means you are more flexible, and are more unaffected by the market ups and downs.

The 2nd step is to give away something of value for free to your prospects.

This step is dedicated to capture people’s addresses (their names, and their emails) for future contacts. And it’s also powerful because you can talk to people once they’re in your email list.

To do this, you need something called “a squeeze page” which is designed for only one purpose – to capture emails, and names.

And there should not be any distraction in the squeeze page if you don’t want prospects to lose their attentions to your offer.

The 3rd step is to drive traffic to your squeeze page.

After setting up your opt-in page (the other name of the squeeze page), the next vital step you must do is to attract people to it, or to drive traffic to your offer.

I think you know the importance of traffic generation because without which, there is no online business, and no money for you.

There are many ways to generate traffic, both free and paid. But when you get started, you should focus on free methods such as article marketing, SEO, forum marketing, etc instead of loosing a bunch of money on paid services such as PPC.

And when your business grows up, you should reinvest your earned money to outsource other tasks so you can focus on the best thing you can do with your business.

The 4th step is to follow-up your subscribers with automated emails and promotions.

Fact is, when you can do all the above 3 steps, you’ve completed 80% of the work! Surprised?

But as the famous 80/20 law, 80% of your success (or how much money you can make) is determined by the rest 20% of your work. What is it?

It’s to build relationships with your list. And don’t try to promote them with your “offers” instantly after they signed in or else they will opt-out immediately. Try to bring even more valuable information to them, and when they trust you, they will consider buying your promoting products.

The key here is to try to exceed people’s expectations, and it should be the first question you should ask yourself if you want to making money with affiliate marketing!

Google has a new extension for its Chrome browser that puts more control into the hands of its search engine’s users. It’s called Personal Blocklist, and it allows users to block certain domains from appearing in search results. While users will probably welcome the new tool with open arms, its presence may have some websites feeling uneasy, especially content farms.

Matt Cutts is credited with the creation of Personal Blocklist, which is currently available only for users of Google’s Chrome web browser. The extension is rather cut-and-dried in its form, except it comes with a bit of a twist. In addition to allowing users to block certain sites from appearing in their search results, actions performed by users will be sent to Google. For instance, if you block a site, that action will be relayed to Google. Google will then keep tabs on the site. If a certain pattern emerges that shows frequent blocking of the domain, Google could lower its search ranking.

Google claims that Personal Blocklist is an experimental extension that was created to give users a way to supply feedback on sites. Google has been trying to weed out content farms, which are sites that offer a plethora of content that is deemed to be of low quality. Some examples of content farms are eHow from Demand Media and Yahoo’s Associated Content. Both sites churn out a high quantity of articles that are usually written in exchange for a small fee. Google takes pride in the quality of its search engine and is trying to limit the presence of content farms within its search results. The use of the Personal Blocklist extension is a way to do so without banning the sites altogether.

As stated, Personal Blocklist operates in a straightforward manner. Once installed in Chrome, you can search as you normally would. Within each search result will be a link that allows you to block the domain. For instance, a result from eHow.com would have a small link stating “Block ehow.com.” Clicking on the link puts the domain on a blacklist and causes it to disappear from the results. Any future searches will not contain results from the blocked domain. The domain can be unblocked or edited if you wish to see it in the results once again. It will also show up in search results if you perform a search using a different browser. 

Once the extension is enabled and sites are blocked, future search results will also have a message at the bottom of each page stating that some results were removed by the extension. There is an option to view the omitted results by clicking show.

Personal Blocklist definitely gives users some extra control over their searches, but one has to wonder about possible abuses with the extension. This depends on how much weight Google puts into the feedback received from its users. If the extension becomes an integral part of Google’s search algorithm, it could cause an all-out war between competing sites.

Many people have heard of affiliate marketing and they might have a general idea, but they really have not grasped the simple concept of it. That, in a nutshell, is the simple explanation of affiliate marketing. It is not as complicated as some people make it sound. It is not rocket science. No matter how it is structured or what other ornaments are attached to any individual program, it must include these three legs in order to exist.

Importance of Clean Adsense Code Implementation

In medium-sized to big websites, you will see that there are pages with AdSense banners breaking up or gone. In most of these cases, visitors will simply ignore this problem, and webmasters will not even become aware of it unless and until they notice a drop in AdSense earnings.

No AdSense banners showing means no AdSense income. It is important to properly implement and double check the implementation of AdSense code. A common issue involves outputting AdSense using a server side script.

This does not mean that you are not allowed to use PHP to output AdSense. For clean implementation, you should not output AdSense code using PHP; instead, put it outside of your server side script tags. However, you can use PHP to drive Google AdSense. Here is a basic example:

Recommended:

In the above example, the recommended approach is to put AdSense code outside the server side script tags. This is not only applicable to PHP, but other technologies as well. You can use this approach in ASP.NET, Cold fusion and Java Server pages.

The primary reason for doing this is that sometimes your website server or your CMS use cache. In cache-based websites, all of your website’s URLs are statically generated pages. This means they do not use PHP to render pages in real time. Thus, if you depend on outputting AdSense code blocks using PHP, you might see some issues with some of your pages; AdSense banners may be missing due to an ongoing cache update or incomplete caching of pages. The solution is to manually clear your cache and reload it again, but of course this can be cumbersome to do. The most effective way of rendering AdSense code blocks is to make them independent of a server side script.

Putting the code outside the server side script tags ensures it will always be rendered, regardless of whether your website relies heavily on cache or has some issue with caching.

Blending AdSense Colors with the Page

Some AdSense publishers performed tests and reported (http://www.duoblogger.com/best-adsense-colors/2076/)that blending AdSense colors properly with your page will result in a higher CTR. Well, you should already know that a higher CTR means more clicks from your ads, and that translates to higher earnings. In your AdSense setup, you should already be familiar with the tool shown in the screen shot below. It allows you to configure the outputted colors of your ads.

Based on the options provided, you can actually assign colors to the Border, Title, Background, Text and URL.

Not included in the list is the font type used, which is also an important factor in the blending process. Here is a list of recommendations to get you started in customizing the AdSense that appears on your website.

1. Set the background color of your ads to be same as your page background color. For example, if your website’s background color is white, then you should also use white as the background for your AdSense banners.

2. Set the title’s font color to be same as the color of your website’s hyperlinks. The most popular color for a hyperlink is blue for a website with a white background.

3. Use the same color for the background and the border. This will make your ads appear borderless.

4. Match the ads’ font color with the color of your website’s text. For example, if your website features a dark or black background and your website’s text is white, then use white as an ad text color.

5. For ad URLs, assign a font color that is used by your website’s text. If it is black, then the font color of the URLs in the ads should be black.

6. For the font type of your ads, assign a font type that is used by your website’s text.

Now you have some guidance as to how to blend your ads with your website template’s colors. It is sometimes difficult to find out the exact color used by your template. Colors can be configured in Google AdSense using hex format (e.g. #FFFFFF for white color).

One of the great free tools that can help you determine the exact colors of your website’s background, fonts, etc. is Color Pickup:  http://www.hot.ee/microtools4u/Versions/ColorPickUp.zip

Simply install it on your Windows computer. Once it is installed, double click the application, and it will immediately grab the colors in Hex. You can click on the region of interest, and then paste the color into a text file; you can then see the hex color code of that region you have clicked. Once you have the color, you can go to AdSense Setup to configure your ads.
