Are you getting the most profit from your affiliate marketing efforts? You know that this is the easiest and quickest way to make money online. After all, someone else has to create the product, write a killer sales website, and handle all the fulfillment and customer service hassles. All you do is send eager customers to the site and rake in your commissions.
Sounds easy but there are several profit-killers that can rob you of your hard earned commissions. Here are several tips to help you keep more of your well-deserved profits.
First, stop using direct links to the sales website in your promotions. Instead, send them to your squeeze page and get their name and e-mail address for your mailing list. That way you can contact them again.
Using those long, strange looking affiliate ID’s tip off the prospect that you are trying to sell him something. You also make it impossible for sneaky people to substitute their ID for yours to steal your commission. You avoid having prospects simply drop the ID and go straight to the product website in the hopes of getting a better price.
Another important reason to redirect your links is to protect against having “dead” links. If the maker of the product stops selling it, or changes his terms of sale, all your blog posts, articles, viral e-books and twitters become useless. But if you have them point to a redirect site, you can simply send them to another, similar product.
Make sure the vendor’s sales process doesn’t cheat you of your money. See that there are no other banner ads, Google AdSense or text links to other products on the sales page. When you send a pre-sold prospect to the site, you don’t want them to wander off to another advertiser instead of buying the product.
Be wary of alternative payment methods offered by the vendor. If you are only paid on ClickBank orders but the vendor accepts other forms of payment, you may not be paid for every buyer you send them. What if the customer asks for additional information before placing his order? Will you still be paid your commission?
Finally, check the terms of service. Do you get paid immediately, once a month, or only when you have accumulated an impossibly high total of orders? Is there a large fee for sending your check? These shady practices can cut into your bank account.
By following these tips you can assure that you will be paid every penny you are entitled to receive from your affiliate marketing program.
